Asian Handicap is a betting market that removes the draw by applying a virtual goal or point advantage to one side.
It is designed to create fairer odds between uneven teams.
How it works
-
Handicaps are expressed in whole, half, or quarter numbers
-
Bets settle as win, loss, or push (refund)
-
Draw outcomes are eliminated
Example
-
Team A (-1.0) vs Team B
-
Team A wins by 1 goal → stake refunded
-
Team A wins by 2 goals → bet wins
-
Draw or loss → bet loses
Key characteristics
-
Lower bookmaker margin than 1X2 markets
-
More precise pricing than European handicaps
-
Extremely popular in professional football betting
Important note
Quarter handicaps (e.g. -0.25, +0.75) split the stake into two bets, which affects settlement logic.
